Description
Volunteer Workshop Operative – Make a Difference in Your Community.
Join us in our mission to empower individuals experiencing poor mental health, learning difficulties, and learning disabilities by helping them build the confidence, skills, and independence needed to achieve their goals.
This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference within your local community while gaining valuable experience, meeting new people, and becoming part of a supportive and inclusive team.
About Us
Our charity provides vocational skills development opportunities that support people with poor mental health and learning difficulties to progress into paid employment, education, and training.
We operate a charitable social enterprise delivering fulfilment and signage services to commercial customers, alongside a busy on-site woodcraft workshop.
We are currently seeking enthusiastic and reliable volunteer workshop operatives who would like to give something back by supporting our day-to-day operations and helping participants thrive in a practical working environment.
The Role
As a valued member of our team, you will:
- Assist with unpacking and organising jobs
- Prepare and set up workstations
- Support fulfilment and workshop activities
- Work alongside participants to help them complete tasks and develop workplace skills
- Help organise workloads and maintain a productive shop-floor environment
- Assist with assembling products, palletising goods, shrink wrapping, and occasional loading/unloading of vans
- Follow schedules and collaborate with staff and volunteers to meet customer requirements
Manual handling training and ongoing support will be provided.
This role would suit someone who enjoys practical, hands-on work and is equally comfortable supporting and encouraging others in a busy workshop setting.
Additional Opportunities
For volunteers who enjoy driving, there may also be occasional opportunities to collect and deliver products to customer locations. However, driving is entirely optional and not a requirement of this role.
We are also looking for volunteers with an interest in marketing and social media to help raise awareness of our work and support community engagement.
What You’ll Gain
- The opportunity to make a genuine impact in people’s lives
- Experience within the charity and social enterprise sector
- Increased understanding of supporting individuals with complex needs and vulnerabilities
- A welcoming and supportive team environment
- The chance to develop practical and interpersonal skills
If you are passionate about supporting others and would like to contribute your time and skills to a worthwhile cause, we would love to hear from you. Please submit a volunteer request via the form on the right hand side of the screen and we will be in touch soon.
