Description
Bethany Community Outreach runs a food bank that supports over 1,000 people every month. Through the generosity of volunteers and supporters, the organisation helps provide essential food and support to individuals and families across the local community.
We are looking for volunteers to support our food bank in a variety of roles, including van collection drivers, warehouse volunteers, bid writers, and general food bank volunteers. Whether you can offer practical support or professional skills, your time can make a real difference.
Volunteer Duties May Include:
- Collecting food donations using the community van
- Loading and unloading food donations
- Packing and sorting food ready for distribution
- Organising stock within the warehouse
- Supporting the day-to-day running of the food bank
- Helping with small jobs and practical tasks as needed
- Researching and writing funding applications
- Identifying grant and funding opportunities
- Supporting fundraising and sustainability efforts
What We’re Looking For
- A friendly and positive attitude
- Reliability and a willingness to help
- Good communication and organisational skills
- The ability to work as part of a team
- An interest in supporting people within the local community
- For bid writing roles, experience in writing funding applications is welcomed but not essential
No previous experience is required for warehouse, van collection or general food bank volunteering roles, and support will be provided.
What’s In It For You?
- The opportunity to support a vital community food bank
- Experience working within a busy charity environment
- The chance to develop new skills and gain valuable experience
- An opportunity to meet new people and make connections
- The satisfaction of helping people experiencing hardship
Additional Information
Van collection volunteers are needed from approximately 6:45am until 9:30am on most days, although some flexibility is available.
Warehouse volunteers are needed Monday to Friday from 7:30am, with most sessions finishing by 1:00pm.
We would also like some additional volunteer support on Tuesday mornings from 10:00am–12:00pm. Volunteers will help out in the food bank and get involved with any small jobs or practical tasks that need doing on the day. This is a flexible opportunity to lend a hand where needed and support the team with the day-to-day running of the food bank.
Bid writers can support the organisation flexibly, helping secure funding to meet increasing costs such as rent, energy bills, and other running expenses.
Interested?
If you are interested in this opportunity, please complete the volunteer enquiry form on the right hand side and a member of the LoveBrum team will be in touch soon.
