Lions Clubs International is a global service organisation made up of local clubs dedicated to supporting communities and improving lives. One of our national projects focuses on collecting and recycling unwanted spectacles and hearing aids, helping to provide access to eyecare for people in countries where these resources are limited.

We are looking for volunteers to support our National Spectacle Recycling Project based at our headquarters in Kings Heath, Birmingham. Every year, we receive thousands of donated spectacles that need to be sorted, processed, and prepared for distribution to communities around the world.

This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a project that helps improve the lives of people who may otherwise have little or no access to vision care.

Volunteer Duties May Include:

• Sorting donated spectacles and hearing aids
• Checking and organising spectacles into categories
• Preparing items for distribution and shipment
• Assisting with packing and storage
• Supporting the day-to-day running of the recycling project
• Working as part of a team to process large volumes of donations

What We’re Looking For

• Reliable and enthusiastic volunteers
• Good attention to detail
• A willingness to undertake practical tasks
• The ability to work as part of a team
• An interest in supporting an international humanitarian project

No previous experience is required, and full guidance will be provided.

Additional Information

Volunteering opportunities are available Monday to Friday between 9:00am and 5:00pm at Lions Clubs Headquarters in Kings Heath, Birmingham. Weekend volunteering may also be available by arrangement.

Volunteers can discuss their availability with the team and support the project in a way that fits around their existing commitments.
