Impact Week 2018: The Wellbeing Community Choir

By Kate Grantham

In celebration of LoveBrum’s first ‘Impact Week’, we’re sharing the stories of the people who’ve benefited from LoveBrum’s support, demonstrating the impact LoveBrum has delivered in Birmingham.

Project aim

The Wellbeing Community Choir works to promote and maintain good physical and mental health through the power of singing. The choir is open to the whole community but is specifically aimed at supporting individuals recovering from mental illness or chronic medical disability.

The choir not only impacts the lives of its members, but also reaches out to the wider community by performing in places such as mental health units, where contact with the outside world can be limited.

Where are they now?

Without the funding from LoveBrum, The Wellbeing Choir would not have been able to cover the rent for their rehearsal space. The £2,000 donation from LoveBrum ensured that the group had a place to rehearse.

They have since performed at the Solihull Christmas light switch on and the Commonwealth Games Handover Ceremony 2018!

The £2,000 grant has paid for two years of  rental costs, allowing the group to support 70 individuals with mental or physical disabilities, through the power of singing, on a weekly basis.
