Remembering Owen Long

By Jo Seabright

We are devastated to hear that Owen Long, ambassador and dedicated supporter of LoveBrum has passed away. Owen was one of the most selfless, caring and loving souls, and had been involved with LoveBrum from the very start. Owen volunteered whenever he could, supporting on the marketing committee, as well as helping fundraise at festivals and events.  He captured hearts and minds and lit up the room with his infectious laugh and enthusiasm for giving back to our communities.

PJ Ellis, co-founder of LoveBrum recalls one of the selfless acts that Owen will be remembered for. He bought 50 greetings cards, asked people to send him messages of love which he then wrote on each of those cards, and delivered them to a local nursing home on Valentine’s Day along with a giant LoveBrum banner.

Abby Goldie, one of our Board Members was inspired to get involved in the charity because of Owen’s passion for LoveBrum.  They met at an event and he was so passionate and proud to promote the people and causes that improve our city – it radiated from him.  As well as a brilliant ambassador, for many of us he was also a great friend.

Owen, you will be sorely missed by so many.  Brum loves you.
