My First Volunteer Experience

Give a little, gain a lot. A phrase that immediately jumped out at me when signing up as a LoveBrum volunteer.

One application form later and I quickly found myself wearing my LoveBrum badge with pride at the Mostly Jazz, Funk & Soul Festival in Moseley.

Not only was this my first volunteering experience, but it was also my first time at a music festival. I teamed up with two other colleagues and as a trio we faced the challenge head on. We didn’t know what to expect, but as soon as we arrived we were instantly welcomed and made to feel part of the LoveBrum family.

The pitch wasn’t difficult – buy a raffle ticket to support a good cause – and before the next note was sung, another coin was thrown into the fundraising bum bag and a raffle ticket strip was torn.

The sun shone bright, the music was upbeat, and everyone greeted us with a smile. It was an eclectic combination that made for such an unforgettable experience.

So why volunteer? Not only did I get to meet some wonderful people and enjoy the beautiful surroundings of Moseley Park & Pool, but I also got to give something back to such a wonderful cause through raising funds and telling the LoveBrum story.

Would I do it again? Absolutely, just tell me where to sign up.

If you’re interested in volunteering at a festival, LoveBrum will be at Moseley Folk Festival (31st August-2nd September) and require volunteers to man our photo booth and sell raffle tickets. We’ll need you for just four hours and you can then enjoy the rest of the festival for free! Click here to find out more.
