The Stonehouse Gang

‘It brings people together as a community and that’s what it does best.’

The Stonehouse Gang was founded in 1939 and works with all members of the community to bring people together.

What is The Stonehouse Gang?

The Stonehouse Gang was founded as a way to keep young people out of trouble and ensure they had something positive in their lives. What started with 3 boys in a local field in 1939 has now grown into a flourishing club for community members of all ages.

One project run by The Stonehouse Gang is their senior citizens group, which provides a place for older adults to come and socialise, as well as organising activities such as bingo, outings or parties. Members of the youth club even put on shows and parties for the group! It also means that the community can keep an eye on those people who may need more practical help.

Ultimately, the group ensures that these older adults are not alone, and continue to enjoy life experiences, rather than just exist.

If successful, what will you use your LoveBrum funding for?

The Stonehouse Gang’s current heating system is almost 40 years old and the group have found that the poor heating in the building puts off a lot of older members of the community from attending the weekly groups.

The funding from LoveBrum would help The Stonehouse Gang to replace the existing system with a brand new one, which would encourage more people to attend, supporting even more older adults in the local community.
