Suited for Success

“Support the Unemployed into Employment through the free provision of Employment Preparation

Making a great first impression is vital for anyone attending a job interview. But for many unemployed men and women, not having the right support to prepare for a job interview can be a huge barrier. Suited for Success is based in central Birmingham and exists to help ensure no-one misses out on an opportunity to gain the dignity of employment for the want of interview skills and interview clothing.

  What is Suited for Success?

Suited for Success is based in central Birmingham and exists to help ensure no-one misses out on an opportunity to gain the dignity of employment for the want of interview skills and interview clothing.

They support unemployed men and women to regain employment by providing FREE employment preparation, interview skills and FREE interview clothing. Their core mission is to level the playing field for unemployed people furthest away from employment, especially those experiencing significant barriers to gaining employment, including the homeless, ex-forces, return to work mums, ex offenders, NEET 16-29-year-olds and BAME communities.

Suited for Success help the unemployed to:

(i) Improve their confidence and self-esteem.

(ii) Improve personal appearance.

(iii) Improve interview and presentation skills.

(iv) Achieve a positive progression into employment.

(V) Break the cycle of worklessness and poverty.

Now in the aftershock of the pandemic, the UK is facing a big unemployment challenge. Before Covid-19, Birmingham was in the top ten core cities in the UK with the highest unemployment. Now in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic Birmingham is still one of the major cities in the UK with some of the highest unemployment statistics.

Suited for Success is going the extra mile to do things differently to help further prepare the those who have barriers into employment so they don’t get left behind

If successful, what will you use your LoveBrum funding for?

£2000 would be used to fund items of interview clothes that are rarely donated to them, as well as provide financial support for those who most need it most in the first few weeks of employment –  by providing bus passes for example.
