Standing Tall

“Help them move away from the streets for good.”

Standing Tall is a charity that matches people experiencing homelessness in Birmingham into stable jobs and safe homes helping them to move away from the streets for good. 80% of the people helped are still off the streets and in the same job one year later!

Who are Standing Tall?

Standing Tall are an accredited Real Living wage employer and match each person with a stable job in one of their partner businesses. They believe in the power of opportunities, and  work with responsible businesses to create stable jobs for people going through tough times, enabling them to move forwards and thrive.

In the last 12 months, they  have matched people into jobs in construction, hospitality, manufacturing and retail sectors. Standing Tall employs the person for the first 3 months before their partner business provides them with an employment contract.

Standing Tall also understands that a safe home is just as important as a stable job. They use  ‘Amici’ hosts (trained, supported and paid by Standing Tall), who  welcome the person into their home for 6 months before they are ready to secure their own independent accommodation. As a result,  Standing Tall is providing a realistic pathway over 6-12 months for the person to move away from the streets for good.

Standing Tall is helping people to become resilient to be able to sustain a stable job and secure independent and safe accommodation so they do not return to a life on the streets.

If successful, what will you use your LoveBrum funding for?

With  £2000 funding, it would mean that Standing Tall could continue their vital work of supporting people into employment and accommodation by meeting the core costs needed for this work.
