Saltley Stallions FC

Saltley Stallions FC is based in Saltley and hold sessions at Heartlands Academy. They are a local football club aimed at supporting young people from underprivileged backgrounds. The club is run by volunteers sharing their love for the beautiful game and aiming to help kids get active, and back into work or education.

What is Saltley Stallions FC?

Following the Birmingham riots in 2011 that lead a lot of young people astray, leaving them disheartened and disenchanted, a group of passionate footballers saw a way to reach out and support young people in the Birmingham area and bring them together through their love of football. Using the game as an engagement tool, Saltley Stallions have helped numerous young people get the employability skills they need to get back into work, or the confidence to return to education. One of their biggest success stories was helping 16 young people get back into work, through their partnership with a local business.

If successful, what will you use your LoveBrum funding for?

More and more people want to be part of the great team spirit that Saltley Stallions have created and if successful the funding will be spent towards creating new teams and supporting more young people. This will include facility hire, coaching and football equipment. So your vote could help buy a young and keen footballer a new uniform, give them a sense of purpose they need and the opportunity be part of a fantastic team.

Cost of project

£2,000
