Roots & Branches

Roots & Branches are all about social inclusion and celebrating the fantastic diversity of Birmingham. They organise coffee mornings and social outings to different places of worship and cultures, to help break down barriers and welcome new people into their local community.

Who are Roots & Branches?

Founded in 2001, based in Alum Rock and Washwood Heath, the lovely team at Roots & Branches believe that we are all branches of the same tree and our differences as people are something to be enjoyed and appreciated.  Roots and Branches organise and host coffee mornings and outings for the sole purpose of bringing people from all backgrounds and cultures together.

Roots & Branches are instrumental in helping the new communities integrate with the wider Alum Rock community, to ensure they become part of the rich tapestry of culture in the Alum Rock area in Birmingham.

Fancy finding more about the wonderful people living in Alum Rock?  Why not drop by for a coffee and some cake on a Tuesday, at the St John’s Centre on Alum Rock Road!

If successful, what will you use your LoveBrum funding for?

Roots & Branches aim to use their framework as a hub to engage with the local community, and would like to help the Romanian community integrate with the wider community in the Washwood Heath and Alum Rock Area.

The team plan to start this by having coffee mornings, with a translator present and organising further social outings in Birmingham.  The £2,000 would help would pay for mini bus charges and translator fees to help support them to build a happier and stronger community.
