“ People need help, more than ever now”
Push on Wellbeing (POW), a Community Interest Company, based in the heart of Chelmsley Wood, are providing an array of services at the moment for their Community to those who need it most. With a Virtual Wellbeing Studio set up there, they are reaching out to help people to come out of lock down physically & mentally stronger.
Who are POW?
Founded in 2015 by Teresa Farrell, POW CIC works to ensure the wellbeing and Mental Health of the local community. After experiencing first-hand the effects of Mental Health, Teresa created the Pow 10 week programme – Push On Wellbeing – this programme combined Dance and Meditation and helped people to get fit and focus their mind too.
POW CIC have gone from strength to strength and become a real pillar of the community. They are open from Monday – Saturday, and like many, adapted their services due to the Pandemic. As everything was shutting down, POW went virtual, with the classes now being offered online so that people could still access them, and whilst the centre itself had to close to the public, they were still on hand to offer any support needed – a “no child should go hungry” campaign was started, with the centre accepting food donations and running its own food bank for those who needed it. They want to help take the strain off Services and have a mission statement that their door is open when others may be shut.
POW Pals have also been created – volunteers who have a presence on the Street, and are there for any members of the community who may need assistance.
If successful, what will you use your LoveBrum funding for?
There are many people in need of the services that POW are currently providing to the local Community, and £2000 would ensure the continuation of these services that are so desperately needed, now more than ever.
