Central Rescue UK
Cost of project
Founded in 2006, Central Rescue UK is a Water Search and Rescue team based at Shard End in Birmingham, comprising solely of volunteers.
What is Central Rescue UK?
Central Rescue UK provide water and land rescue to the local community and surrounding areas in the West Midlands. The team of 15 volunteers are on call 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year. They’re a particular support to West Midlands police, and have become a helping hand during various missing person searches. Other activities include:
- Event Water Safety and Medical Cover
- Water Safety Presentations
- AED and Emergency Life Support Training
- Support to Fire, Police, and Ambulance Services
- Community First Responders
- Heart Start Instruction
They are also a DEFRA declared flood rescue team and West Midlands Emergency Services Flood Response Team.
Of course in order to achieve this, each team member needs to be fully trained – including the all important, first aid. The team of volunteers are prepared for being on the spot and responding quickly and effectively when faced with an emergency situation such as heart attacks, choking, drowning or electrocution, this really makes First Aiders the heroes of the hour!
If successful, what will you use your LoveBrum funding for?
As Central Rescue UK are growing, their our first aid stores are falling behind. Your funding will be spent on replenishing their stock, to ensure every boat and every member of staff is fully supplied, ready and equipped for any accident and emergency.
Supplies are currently all self funded, are manned by just one nurse and are very quickly going out of date.
