Cakes 4 Casualties
Cakes 4 Casualties provides an array of home baking for our injured troops once a week in Birmingham and once a month at Headley.
What is CakesĀ 4 Casualties?
Cakes 4 Casualties began 6 years ago upon a hospital visit to Selly Oak Hospital with family and sharing some homemade cakes with the injured soldiers. Following this, Kath Ryan hoped to return to feed the remainder of the ward. At the time she baked 12 dozen cakes and has returned every week for the last 6 years.
A visit from āthe cake ladyā is not only just a massive boost to our soldiers moraleĀ but helps in providing extra calories for wound healing. The hospitalās mental health team also reported visits as a massive positive.
Kathās reputation has preceded her and she has since made visits to Headley Court, HMS Drake in Plymouth, Salisbury Hospital, Royal Marine Rehabilitation Triathlon Lympston – even the Invictus Games in London!
If successful what are you going to use your LoveBrum funding for?
The LoveBrum funding would help to refit and upgrade the Cakes 4 Casualties kitchen, which has taken a battering over the past 6 years. This will ensure they can continue to bake and visit our soldiers.
