Buddy Bag Foundation
The Buddy Bag Foundation support children who arrive in Birmingham service centres that provide emergency accommodation for parents and children who have been victims of domestic and sexual abuse. To restore a sense of safety and security during such a difficult and unfamiliar time, they provide each child with a ‘Buddy Bag’ including items such as a toiletries, pyjamas, a teddy bear, activity books, helping to remind those children they are loved and appreciated.
Who are the Buddy Bag Foundation?
The Buddy Bag Foundation was founded in response to the rising number of children who enter emergency care. Often these children will arrive at these refuges and have very little with them and the Buddy bag contains 12 essential items pyjamas for a comfortable nights stay, a photo frame to put a picture of their family in and a cuddly bear!
Another great part of the work the Buddy Bag Foundation do is to encourage young children to get involved and help with the cause. They organise Buddy Bag brigades, where school children come and pack buddy bags ready to go. It teaches them charitable giving from a young age and appreciate how fortunate they are to have a loving family and a happy home. The children these buddy bags go to have gone through so much in their young lives and the Buddy Foundation want to remind them they are cared for because every buddy bag is filled with love.
If successful, what will you use your LoveBrum funding for?
If successful the LoveBrum funding will help to pay for a whopping 80 buddy bags! They will be distributed across different Women’s refuge centres across Birmingham. That will give 80 mothers the comfort that their children are cared for and 80 children something to look forward to and enjoy during the difficult times ahead.
The cost of Buddy Bag is just a little more than a LoveBrum membership.
