Cost of project
Breast Friends was founded 20 years ago in 1996 at Good Hope Hospital by a small group of Ladies who had all been diagnosed with Breast Cancer.
What is Breast Friends?
Breast Friends is a support group based at Good Hope Hospital, solely ran by unpaid Volunteers who have all been diagnosed with Breast Cancer. Breast Friends aim to help local Women through a difficult time by offering them friendship, emotional support, and practical help from the time of diagnosis and beyond. Breast Friends aim to raise awareness of Breast Cancer within the local community so that people can seek diagnosis’ and treatments at as early a stage as possible.
If successful, what will you use your LoveBrum funding for?
As mentioned previously, one of the services offered with Breast Friends is the support network available. As well as the practical help to ladies going through treatment for Cancer (for example, Chemotherapy/ Post- operatively), help is also available for those with Secondary Cancer who can be very seriously ill. Breast Friends provides domestic help for these ladies, and a variety of services is offered – help with Childcare, door to door laundry service, Gardening, and helping to deal with hair loss among some of the things they do. Breast Friends can also help towards equipment costs for these ladies such as Wheelchairs, riser recliner chairs, and Stairlifts. If Breast Friends won the funding, it would ensure that these services can continue to be offered.
