Birmingham Impact FC

‘We could all learn so much more by just seeing the friendships that develop.’

Birmingham Impact FC is a football group for young boys aged 5-14 that aims to address the issue of diversity and inclusivity within football.

What is Birmingham Impact FC?

In his work as a football scout, Birmingham Impact FC founder, Zehir realised that a lot of work still needed to be done to address the issue of diversity within football, with many local clubs being made up of just one ethnicity.

Birmingham Impact FC was created to address some of these issues and now has two bases in Billesley and Washwood Heath, with over 50 children, from all backgrounds, attending coaching sessions each week, providing opportunities for children to play football locally but also integrating the different communities within the area.

The football club aims to demonstrate that the value of sport to local communities extends beyond playing, and can bring communities together, having a social and cultural impact, developing social capital and reducing crime and anti-social behaviour. Engaging young people in activities such as sport contribute to community resilience and reduce the risk of young people becoming involved in groups engaged in violent crimes.

Birmingham Impact FC is working within the community to create a positive and inclusive atmosphere for young people to be active whilst also developing their personal skills, such as confidence, self-esteem and respect for others and, of course, their football skills!

If successful, what will you use your LoveBrum funding for?

Birmingham Impact FC will use the funding from LoveBrum to ensure that every child has the same team kit. The group aims to make everyone feel as equal as possible and each child wearing the same kit will help to promote that message within the group.

The remaining funding will be used to purchase equipment such as cones and footballs.
