Big Top Musical Adventures CIC

Big Top Musical Adventures CIC was founded in October 2014 by two friends, musicians and graduates of Birmingham Conservatoire, who wanted to create accessible music making opportunities for children and young people, including those with disabilities.

What is Big Top Musical Adventures CIC?

In 2015, Big Top Musical Adventures CIC devised and delivered music workshops to 15 Special schools across Birmingham, and ran monthly community music making sessions for families with children with additional needs at the MAC Birmingham. Sessions at the MAC are now running at full capacity, and Big Top work regularly with around 30 families on a monthly basis!
Often the confidence and social wellbeing of children with additional needs is compromised by their disability, and the workshops are designed to provide supportive environments for children to develop their confidence, empower them to make choices and experience the fun, happiness and enjoyment that music provides. By acknowledging and fulfilling the need for this provision within communities, the value of children with additional needs is recognised and celebrated. This will allow children and young people the chance to explore, and families the chance to interact and form friendships through shared interest, group music making and united creative outcomes! The opportunities and experiences currently available for children with additional needs and their families are extremely limited and by providing an opportunity to participate actively in music making, the project hopes to address these shortages further and tackle the feeling of isolation often felt by these families. The sessions provide an environment for children with additional needs and their siblings to share and participate as equals in a creative, fun music making process.

If successful, what will you use your LoveBrum funding for?

If Big Top Musical Adventures CIC were to win the funding, they would use this to put on more music sessions for the families. The money would also be used to pay towards the room hire.

Cost of project

£2000.00
