Aston Performing Arts Academy

Aston Performing Arts Academy began in 2005 and connects arts with the local community. They empower young people through performing and creative arts.

What is Aston Performing Arts Academy?

Aston Performing Arts Academy works with young people and helps them to showcase their talents through performing at prestigious events such as the Midlands Media Awards, the opening of Grand Central Station, and the 10 year anniversary of the Bull Ring to name a few!

They offer music and performance tuition alongside these performances, and work with around 120 young people each week, aged between 6 and 24 years old to encourage them and help to build their self esteem, confidence and their skills in the arts.

If successful, what will you use your LoveBrum funding for?

As a non funded organisation, Aston Performing Arts Academy often struggle to provide and maintain equipment for their students to be able to use and rehearse with. Every week, students attend workshop sessions but they are struggling to cope with the equipment demand as the Academy continues to grow in numbers. Most of the equipment the academy does have is 10 years old, and in desperate need of replacement.

If Aston Performing Arts Academy were successful, the funding would go towards replenishing this equipment, including replacing microphones and drum kits. Additional funding means that they would also be allowed to work with more young people – the Academy currently has a waiting list of 20+ people!
